The Cascade - The Deluge
The Cascade - The Deluge
Pitter-patter the drops fell,
Bringing out the summer hell,
Bright and shiny was the leaf
Coming out of the blistering heat.
The children joyful and gay,
Ran around like birds in May.
But, then came the rhythmic façade
That fell for days like a cascade.
The rains fell down together,
Like they were knotted forever.
Down the mountain and valley
To every gully and alley.
The dams were full, so they said,
We must do something, so they did
Open the gates of the mighty tanks,
That came overflowing the banks.
Carrying away all on land
People and animals, all at hand.
Then came the folk at sea
To rescue their brethren not seen.
Upon the dark sky that hover
Came the naval force to recover
The pregnant, the lame and the aged
From every corner of their earthly heaven.
A week it took to go down,
Bringing the place, a new gown.
For all the mess, was washed and dressed.
Values practiced, help granted, love flourished.
It took a deluge for man to know
That all he had....is only for now.
