The Chase
The Chase
A shadow in the night, a figure in the dark
A presence on my tail, like a vicious hungry shark
My heart begins to race, my breath begins to quicken
I turn to face my fate, as my bones begin to thicken
The chase is on, the hunt is real
My mind is racing, trying to think, trying to feel
The darkness is suffocating, the silence is deafening
I can feel the predator's presence, his eyes are menacing
My legs are heavy, my feet are leaden
But I cannot stop, I must keep moving or I'll be dead then
The chase goes on, through alleyways and streets
I can hear my heart beating, the sound of my own heartbeats
I know he's getting closer, I can feel his breath on my neck
I try to push through, try to keep going, try to keep my head in check
My breath is shallow, my eyes wide with fear
But I cannot stop now, the end is drawing near
And then I see it, the light at the end of the tunnel
My feet push harder, I run with all my muscle
I burst out of the darkness, into the light
I turn to face my predator, ready to fight
But he's nowhere to be seen, he's vanished without a trace
And so the chase is over, the hunter's in his place.
