The Everlasting Light

When you sit in front of the altar,

Disbelief is your mantra,

When you stare at the idol,

You see nothing but a fable,

You see people coming,

Wishing and then leaving,

But there is a difference,

Before the wishing,

And after the confiding.

You see hope,

Shining on their faces,

A serenity on their eyes,

And you wonder,

You wonder what is special,

That there is in god,

Impatience gets your better,

You close your eyes and picture,

A image,

a figure,

an idol of god,

You tell him your secrets,

You speak to him of your sorrows,

You feel your heart go light,

Then,

hope shines on your face,

Serenity plays on your eyes,

For you realize something,

That something special of god.

He is not an idol,

a figure,

an image,

But hope in your hearts,

A friend and a companion,

The love of your life,

He is what he is,

The ever shining light.
