THE HALF HEART
THE HALF HEART
She has a heart, never content
Even when boons were plentiful.
Stood, she on the highest hilltop, wailing,
Unable to touch the sky in her reach.
The sun illumined not her melancholy soul.
The moon threw no grace into her dreary nights.
The man who gave her his full heart
Was never her solace and joy.
Heaven-like lives in disguise,
She admired to be true happiness.
Her eyes, blind, took no notice
Of the riches, she had since long.
Transitory whims were her heart's delight.
Forgot she, to uncover her treasure chests.
The gems were negligently left unvalued,
And her gloomy heart was still just half full.
The little joys her eyes witnessed
Were as fleeting as rain moths.
The love she undeservingly received
Nagged her greedy searching soul.
The heart once throbbed for her smiles
Has gone silent forever, in despair.
The unrecognised love she always ignored
Left with painful insights for a lifetime.
The blissful life she had imagined
Was a mirage she realized late.
She turned a new page in life,
But her heart still remained half grief-filled.
