The Hardest Way
The Hardest Way
Why do we always have to
Learn it the hardest way,
When all of the pain and agony
Comes crashing in,
As though, the emotions
Whirling around in our mind,
Have hatched a plan of
Pushing our soul into,
The whirlpool of an
Unavoidable Armageddon.
All of the heart breaks that come along,
The heart which had been used to
Relying on that sole source of happiness
As it had cited aside all others,
Some time back, is now left to
Heal itself on it's own, but,
How can it possibly collect
Its thousand pieces that have been
Strewn all over and weave it
Once again into a whole one.
The tears that have left the eyes,
Not simply salt and water,
Running across the puffy cheeks,
As though, the soul is screaming aloud,
Wailing for, desperately aching for
The end of what seems
An endless agony.
We do move on, snap out of
What had broken us, and,
No matter how much we try
To emerge unscathed,
From this fire, no matter
How much we try to conceal
Those scars, in the end,
A dull ache, does remain in the heart.
Guess, it has been perhaps destined for us,
To learn it the hardest way.
