The India I Believe
The India I Believe
Born from the Indian land,
So fertile, so motherly.
A bird fighting against the chains of the British greed,
The hyenas laughing cunningly at our innocence.
Brought up with the idea of Satya
And the truth, I believe,
A free India,
Adulterated drug-free India,
Discrimination free India.
The India I believe,
One where no one sleeps with hunger.
The India I believe,
One where no one turns their backs on a girl child.
The biggest united nation,
India.
This is the India I,
Pledge for,
Strive for,
And can sacrifice myself for.
Description: The poem is written on the basis of Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts, wishes and beliefs of India during the struggle. “I” here refers to Mahatma Gandhi.
