The Lady Next Door

The Lady Next Door

Forlorn and abandoned there she stay...

Hiding her loneliness in a perfect way...

She tries her best.....

But the quiet eyes speak up.....

The blink of an eye relates to the whole ordeal.....

The silver lining in her hair isn't that she has aged...

It portrays the encounters she had .....

Forlorn and abandoned, there she stay...

With a broad smile on her wrinkled cheeks...

As a pretence to be happy and gay...

Slowly she walks...

Carrying her bent body...

As if tired of life's journey...

Do people wonder who she is?

And her near ones are?

Never has been a knock on her door, nor has she visited anyone...

Forlorn and abandoned, there she stay...

Leading a life of isolation and dismay...

Standing on the verandah...

I noticed her walking one day...

Slowly, through the lane...

To the street.....

With trembling hands...

She dropped a coin to make a call...

It was an awful sight for all...

She was alone and has no one to converse with...

Was a clear fact for all...

She mumbled something and dropped the phone...

Stumbling she came out and rolled on the floor...

To her rescue, we ran with a jerk...

Only to find that she is dead...

She seemed to be content and blessed with peace...

Her face glowing with immense purity and grace...

We aren't a family, still felt a pinch...

For the quiet lady, forlorn and abandoned who had stayed...

A huge crowd gathered and mourned for the lady next door...

Who won't stay anymore...

Forlorn and abandoned, there she stayed...

Hiding her loneliness in a perfect way...

And there he came amidst tight security...

People gathered around with anxiety...

To see the strange person...

Who came for the rituals...

And whose face shows grief and distress...

His stern eyes brimmed...

As he lit the pyre...

"Maa! Please forgive"...

Is all one could hear...

Forlorn and abandoned who had stayed.....

All her life...

BUT......

Never complained.
