The Memories of Tomorrow

How could you forget the memories we made,

The kisses we shared and the foundation we laid,

When all I can think about is the love I adored,

And the times I gave you all I could afford.

                         

How did you move on from the future we lost,

The love you got and the promise to knot,

If I’m still here trying to experience happiness again,

When I’m not sure what is left more to lose or gain.

                         

How do you sleep knowing I shed my tears for you,

That I promised to stay true and every day I love you anew,

When all I can do is living the past and dream of tomorrow,

Trying hard not to drown in my own sorrow.

                         

How would the past-you react to this new year,

Knowing that it will create fear in the ones dear,

If only you knew how much I try today too,

To keep you happy through everything you go through.

                         

How can I know if all that happened was real,

Or, for you, if it was an unwanted ordeal,

When all I can want is some happiness to borrow,

From the plans, we made for us and our memories of tomorrow.
