The Ocean

The Ocean

Look at the ocean, so deep and blue;

Stare at it longer, and you can catch it’s flu,

Upon the wide ocean’s marine flare,

Goes your ever longing stare.

The ocean’s waves curl high in the sky,

And playful dolphins in the water fly;

Starfish spray onto the beach:

They are of all colours - yellow, blue, and peach.

While animals on the ocean bed,

Illuminate and wait stealthily to be fed;

They shine as bright as stars,

Fortunately trapped in their sublime midnight blue free cellars.

The ocean gives refuge to such animals,

But humans never want to be the cruel sort of cannibals:

They pollute it with toxic wastes-

Chocolate wrappers and awful pastes;

But the ocean never ceases to surprise,

For it is a part of nature and it will rise,

Consuming all the world’s glaciers,

And destroying the human barriers;

Thus retaining its natural beauty,

And we mortals will be again obliged to do a guest artist’s duty.
