The Rising

The Rising

It's darker than space here,

Perhaps, there's a light;

A light I cannot see.

It constantly eludes me.

I wish I could start it over again

For words escape me,

Still I look for the meaning,

The meaning of my sorrow,

The sorrow that binds me,

The dilemma that is inside me.

Doubts rise and fall

In the midst of suspicion,

Of faces drowning in the sea

I've taken an oath to find me.

I know I'm not alone,

In this maze of chaos,

The imposters that surround me.

I've taken an oath,

To find true companions

Behind every facade I see.

It's hard to be different,

Even harder to be unique,

The hardest is to be you,

I suppose, my actions fail me.

But I know I'll rise again

Rise, for it's my time

For this is what I was taught to be.

I'll pick up my pen again,

And wage this war against myself,

This rebellion inside me.

I laugh again, heartily, while

My heart burns in flames of joy.

The light that always eluded me

Is in these words I write.
