The Shadow of the Night

The shadows of the night, they creep and crawl,

In the alleys dark, they prowl and sprawl.

Whispers of secrets, they pass along,

To the criminals, to whom they belong.

The streets are quiet, the air is still,

Except for the sound of a distant shrill.

The victim screams, their cries for aid,

Are lost in the night, they begin to fade.

The detective arrives, with a sense of dread,

As he surveys the scene, his mind is led.

A trail of clues, they lead him on,

To the shadowy world, where crime has gone.

The truth is hidden, deep in the night,

But the detective is determined, to shed some light.

With his wits and his will, he follows the trail,

To bring justice to the victim, who has gone pale.

The shadows of the night, they may seem bleak,

But the detective knows, he will not be weak.

For justice will be served, and the criminal caught,

And the victim's justice, will not be for naught
