The Silence When You Talk
The Silence When You Talk
Is there a worst silence
Than the one before a storm?
The type of silence you feel
In your skin
Behind your eyes
In your toes
And in your tongue (it tastes like danger)
That cold silence that makes
A home out of your bones
Uses up your blood like oxygen
Leaving you to choke
Sometimes when we talk
I feel that silence nearing
Slowly cornering me
Like a sword pushing me
Against the walls of my own mind
Why don't you speak when you talk?
You shoot me with your eyes
While you soothe me with your words
I can't stand this silence no more
I don't need you to be kind
I need you to bring the storm
That we both know is coming
