The Story Of Water
The Story Of Water
Listen carefully,
This story won’t be retold.
There it is, can you hear it?
The slow, steady drum beating
Like the heart
Of a galaxy
Can you see?
Flowing inside your veins
All but ichor
Floating in the sky
As divine aether
Take a second, observe
Where the land meets the sky,
The sun meets the moon,
Lies a paradise that
Like many things in nature,
Transcends our understanding
Of life and
Life-giving
Of death and
Decay
Order and chaos
But we must not
For one moment
Think that this paradise
Is permanent
Or will live on forever
Because it is dying
We poison it
Trash it
Treat it like scum
Because we think
Maybe it is?
We choke our own heart
And expect
To survive
We are fools
Her beating drum
Is fading
And is fading fast
The blood
In her veins
Grows necrotic
HER SCREAMS FOR HELP
Whispers.
Wake up.
Get up
Do something
Every effort not made to save her
Will kill her
Even more
Don’t let her die
It needs us
As much as
We need it
It flows within us
It is me
It is you
It is us.
