The Sugar Skull Ballon
The Sugar Skull Ballon
The sugar skull balloon
Talked as it floated without any bones
Only full of air
Rattled and hustled with breeze everywhere
Snorted like a ship’s hull
Red masts as it sailed
Breathed in and out its skull victory cap
As it side to side flailed
Secretly learnt tricks to pirouette and ballet
With ribbons, bows and bands
High airy bones and hollow cheeks tinctured with pink rouge
Frills full of ruffles, its breezy gust of collars
It wore like a scholar’s bib
And danced high upon the cotton candy clouds
As it danced the skies were a spoon of soulful blue soufflé
The black pudding and pie birds with red currant eyes
Doffed gingerbread hats
The straw of hay in piles
Looked like vermicelli sweet
And the brown and white round knobs like pebbles
Around the shore were assorted
Like Gulab Jamuns and Rasgulla’s
The white crested shore like Malai Phirni
And rocks like sugar Peta
Of a Bengali sweet store
The pots filled with white sand
Were desiccated coconut and condensed milk
And green and yellow cactuses like Raj Bhog
Jalebi was the swirls along the puddles
Malai sandwiched the sweet pumpkin gourd
And carrot fields of Halwa
As their sweetened discourse betwixt the sugar skull balloon
And the Peda pandit balloons uplifted with sweet saffron
It soon confabulated and their heads rose
Higher up through the sweetened air
Of cinnamons, cardamoms and cloves
They got the bird’s eye view of the strange dessert island
The sugar skull rattled his tongue and whispered low
“I am passing through another hiss
And before air expels my chords Sssssss……
I shall land in my favourite dessert”
Rightly the atmosphere whisked him away
To another sweet land
This time croissant buns filled with cream
Doughnuts and flaky sugar angel wings
Currant buns, gingerbread men
Surrounded the strange balloon
And buried the sugar skull balloon
In a little casket tomb
Full of gravelly chocolate sand
Till air pumped from under the strange sand
And soon the sugar skull balloon
With air rose again
From pits of a sugared tomb
Buffered against the spoonful soulful blue sky soufflé
Propelled and buffeted the breeze against
Like a ruffled scholar
As he was magically inflated
And rose higher than any balloon man
Through fields of custard, cheese cakes, jellies and meringue
For goodness knows he had a sweet tooth once again
That stirred the pot overflowing with
Sweet porridge, milk and honey
Through the mystic dessert land!
With moon, planets and stars
Filled like Barfi, Besan ladoos and Kaju Katli diamonds!
Malai Kulfi comets and Ras Malai meteorites
Whilst delectably Mava Roll Rockets and Sutarfeni asteroids
Zoomed across stellar space of Soan Papdi!
