Twenty Years

In twenty years

Where will you be?

My eyes will you they see?

Or will my mind only have memories?

Will you be there physically?

Will everything I see and touch only remind me of you?

Of the things we stayed up all night to discuss?

Will I be strong enough to not tear up?

To hold on to this knowledge and not give it up?

I will guard it within my soul

Act oblivious when the time comes

Stand resilient for him, who doesn’t know

And for you, who’ll have to go

How will I explain to them, who’ll come from me?

Will they truly understand how dear you were and will always be?

For, only a few precious years they’ll have to know

Maybe only a small glimpse they will see

And for granted it shall be

That you will always be seen

Forty three numbers

How fast they change

When we first think of them

They seem so far away

In time I will see

Not you, but all the future scenes

The circumstances that will be

I might resent it right now

But I will move forward

Will you see?

Two months

I’ve been harboring doubts

But now I am no more under the clouds

I don’t regret the words that “I am strong”

Acceptance is fast on its heels

Indifference is not either the key

I will remember this day till eternity

Keep it in mind till no longer can I see

You might not be there sometimes

When I need you

But you will, the times before then

You will still be my best friend

Just maybe not the only one

I will hold onto you the same way as I do now

Only let go when you do

However, you will see me again too

I’ll keep my windows open to you

If you can take it

Then I can too

I will cherish this time together

Say farewell to you with a cheer

Make sure we have no regrets between us

But for now, let’s not drown much deeper

Because if you are taking it

Then I shall too
