It's a game we love to play,

To promise, talk and never sway.

Sons and daughters claim a right.

Things we discuss, argue and often fight.

The mom is always shouting hard;

'But why she does that?' someone ask.

Our growing sons love to question,

And as parents we better provide-

Reason, Ration, Resources, Rest.

And what about our own expectations?

Where do we see culminating quest?

Our tiny expectations of them being polite;

Our little thoughts on they keeping things right.

Our small desire that they value time;

For if each one wins, the family thrives.

Is being collective, so difficult a trait?

Why does he shout, yell and often frustrate?

Why does he read 'beat' as 'beat'?

Why can't he hear the music 'neat'?

Why has he cluttered his head so much?

That he can't take life with its jhooth and sach?

Who's going to wait for a daily drama unfold?

Am not a soap-lover anyways, why not just behold?

I wonder often where these kids are going!

Oh! What's their race that's just not ending!!

Anger, Anxiety, Addiction, Aggression…

Are but the marks of our inner regression.

Where's patience and where's respect?

Where's love and where's trust?

The sixty seconds pass by in a click.

The 'mouse' keeps them engaged onto some flick.

I often feel if 'feelings' have become outdated!

I seldom see them really related.

I wonder often where these kids are going!

Oh! What's their race that's just not ending!!
