We Can Have All, Not In One Bite
We Can Have All, Not In One Bite
Yes we can have it all
but not at once
only little by little
in small measures
the power of youth
the mellowness of elder
or even the wisdom of the old
but not everything at the same time
on the same platter
taking steps one by one
sipping cuppa nice and slow
and by enjoying the doing
we can have it all
life is a roller coaster ride
all days are not happy ones
some glum remain part of journey
to test our resilience
through patience and fortitude
we need to overcome those
for making our today merrier
to belong to happiness
in spite of odds
Is incumbent on us
a divine responsibility …in short
postponing happiness for tomorrow
is no wise thinking
nor desirable at any cost
a compulsive child who remains elusive
a messy one who does not allow you to clean
or, a child
who is finicky about everything
that he/she does or wears
can be nurtured to a wholesome bloom
with the powers of
affection and love
nothing…
nothing for that matter
stays forever
a sleepless night of a mom
opens to a pleasant dawn
and a fabulous morn
stand like the mighty peak of the mountain
to guide your child
for she/he must be hiding many wounds
those never got scope to ooze out
and bleed in the open
when pindrop silence pervades
elegy of the wind gently strokes
vignettes of twilight mingle with dusk
evaporates into the timeless zone of horizon
you will definitely admire yourself
for having done your bit
by giving selflessly
having lived and savored life’s essence
but not compromising on your terms and conditions
don’t forget to give a pat on your back
for having donned all the feathers on your cap
you wanted to have it all
your platter is now full to the brim
perhaps you, I and we
could not have asked for more.
