And what a period it has been!

The World Cup tournament has ended

With an incredible win for Messi -

An end that may have been expected.

In short, this year’s World Cup has been unique:

Kickstarting with many so-called ‘problems’,

Qatar had to face the West’s critiques,

Something the travelling fans did condemn.

But more importantly, it is the last

World Cup we see our favourites play in.

Of course there were new players, in contrast…

But it’s not the same; it’s yet to sink in.

We’ve also seen the rise of underdogs:

Like in Saudi Arabia’s first match;

And Morocco doing an amazing job

In reaching the semis. They’re quite a batch.

A time to expect the unexpected,

“Now Is All,” La’eeb, the mascot, had said.

None of the teams could’ve been neglected, 

Allowing some forbidden hope to spread.

It has been an incredible journey,

Full of many cries of joy and more tears.

Experiences outside the tourney

Filled new memories with smiles and cheers.

Then it all was concluded with a game

That none of us would easily forget.

There will never be something quite the same

And Qatar mustn’t have a single regret.
