You & I
You & I
The time I saw you first,
Was a crowded metro birth.
You had your bag in your hand,
Holding your phone, on another hand
You were searching for a seat
As I stood up to offer you a seat
You looked me down with a smile
That skipped my heart for a mile
The time came we de-boarded the train
Luckily on the same station that had a quirky name,
The thought of initiating a talk,
Take you down on a walk.
Ahh, but what will you think,
This stupid man asked me out in a blink.
Ahh! finally the day just come with all the courage I asked your name,
Name to date, date to walk,
Which I thought back long, finally we had a talk.
You & I were the happy souls
Together we shared a strong bond.
Dreaming about the life with you
Ready to meet the family of two.
Different religions and cultures we had
Punjabis and Bengalis were never a match
That’s what our parents told
But together we had a stronghold.
Time just came, colleges got over,
You shifted to the north and so me to west
Hoping this distance will bring the best
I still remember the promise you made,
We will never be afraid will be standing together strong,
Let this universe sing our song
Alas! The universe had different plans
The strong winds ruptured the clan
The same wind just blew you away
My bad but your memories stay.
Hoping that you are in a better place
Your bright eyes of you that always glaze
All my friends come and say
Move on mate gone are the past days
How do I move on? I still remember
The time I saw you first
On a crowded metro birth
You had your bag in your hand
Holding your phone in another hand
Hoping someday the fairy swirls her magic wand
Take your memories away, always as they still withstand.
