Amazing School Trip (sort of)

Amazing School Trip (sort of)

"Wake up Sam! You're going to be late for school!" I sat up with a jump. I was in my bed, dressed in my pyjamas and still sleepy-eyed. "Five more minutes, Mum", I shouted, "What's the time?" "It's 9:00!", came the answer. I panicked because school starts at 9:00 and I needed about half an hour to get dressed. This was the third day in a row that I was going to be late and my teacher, Ms. Jenny did not like lateness. I jumped out of bed, took a bath, and almost fell down the stairs while running down to breakfast. It was toast for breakfast. "What's that smell?", asked my Mum. "Don't know", I said quickly because I just remembered I had forgotten to brush my teeth. I stuffed some into my mouth, shouted a muffled goodbye because there was still toast in my mouth, and ran to school. Luckily, my school was very close to my house, so it didn't take much time to get there (luckily). I ran into the classroom and: "Would you like to tell us why you are twenty minutes late, Sam?" "Errrrr...Sorry Miss, my brother wouldn't let me in the bathroom", I said the first thing that popped into my brain. "This is the third time you've been late to class this week, hasn't it, Sam?", asked Ms. Jenny. "Yes Miss", (I've been rumbled). "Today its history", she added. Groan. There was one good thing about being late though. I didn't get to sit through the whole history period. Maybe being late wasn't so bad? "Hi, Sam. What really kept you?" It was Emma. She sat next to me and was my best friend. "Got up at the time school starts, that's all", I replied, "What'd I miss?" "Nothing much. Just all about the amazing school trip and its forms", she grinned. "What school trip!? ",(this is bad) I asked in shock. Maybe being late is bad. "Oh just the school trip to Adventure Park which you won't be going on without your form", she replied sniggering. Emma can be a real brat sometimes even though she's my best friend. "That's enough talking for now, Emma and Sam, or you're not going on the school trip", said Ms Jenny.

That was enough to keep us quiet. "And Sam, I will give you your form for the school trip tomorrow, if you're not late", she added quickly. Phew. So right now all I have to do is:

1. Get to school early tomorrow

2. Ask Emma all about the school trip at recess

Which is easier said than done. Just five minutes left for the end of history period. But it feels like an hour. 3 minutes...1 minute...RINNGG! There goes the bell. And there go my whole class for recess as well. "So what exactly is Adventure Park Emma?", I ask her slightly out of breath (I ran all the way down the corridor). "See for yourself", she replied handing me a leaflet "They were attached to the back of our forms". Looking down at the leaflet I can see exactly why I really want to go there. They've got ziplining, canoeing and even wall climbing! I NEED to wake up early now. "Let's go find Lucy, shall we? I want to tell her all about how you haven't got a form", Emma said. "EMMA!" "Just joking Sam. But I actually do want to talk to Lucy", she replied bursting into laughter. Lucy is my friend as well. Though she is much more comforting than that brat of an Emma. "Hi Lucy", I said. "You coming to the school trip to Adventure Park?", asked Emma. "If you don't stop laughing now Emma, I'm going to - !", I said raising my voice a little. "Oy! What do you think you girls are doing yelling your heads off!?", rang a voice. Uh - Oh. Looks like Mr. Parkinson is on playground duty. "Sorry Sir", I called. "Let's go talk somewhere else shall we? Before Mr. Parkison comes over again.", suggested Lucy. "OK", said me and Emma. Mr. Parkinson is my maths teacher and he can be very strict when he wants to. Otherwise, he's normally fun. "Are you really not coming to the school trip Sam?", asked Lucy looking suspiciously at Emma. "Not exactly", I try to explain "Well I came late to school today, and by that time our teacher had already finished handing out the forms. If I come to school on time tomorrow then I can get a form and go!

But I have a tiny feeling that Ms Jenny wants me to do my homework as well". "Oh, now I get it", said Lucy "Well see you tomorrow because there goes the bell". I rushed to my class and got there just in time. Time seemed to go faster this time because it was one of my favourite subjects, English. Back at home I sat down and finished my homework. Mum and dad were extra pleased (I think). I went to bed early seeing as I had to wake up early tomorrow. Zzzzzzz. "SAM!", shouted my mum. "I'm up, I'm up", I said sleepily. It was 8:30, the perfect time to wake up. I got dressed had my breakfast and tried not to get distracted while running to school. Luckily I was on time. "Good job, Sam", said Ms Jenny "Here's your form". Now I have to remember to get mum or dad to fill it out. After school I went straight back to the house. "MUM! WHERE ARE YOU?", I shouted. "Stop shouting, Sam", said mum coming downstairs "What do you want?" " Can you please fill out this form?", I asked. "Sure", she said looking at me in a weird way, as though scanning me "If you tell me what it's for". "Oh. It's for the school trip to Adventure Park", I said handing her the leaflet anxiously. She took a look at the form and the leaflet and then signed the form. "Phew", I thought. Mum handed me the form and the leaflet and told me to not lose them and remember that the school trip is tomorrow. "It's tomorrow?!", I shouted. I had completely forgotten to read the date. "Yes, it's tomorrow. Do wake up on time won't you", she asked. "Yes", I answered her. I went to bed and tried to remember that I have to wake up early ... "Mum what's the time?!", I asked in panic "I'm not late am I?!" "Sam, it's 7 o'clock in the morning", she said yawning. "Oops", I giggled. I had woken up a bit too early. "Well now that you're up go and get ready for school", she added. "Okay Mum", I said running to get dressed. When we get there it's more amazing than I had expected it! There is really everything the leaflet had described! We were sorted into four groups. I was put in Group D with Emma. Lucy was in Group C. "Who wants to do wall climbing first?", asked Ms Jenny. "ME!", yelled half of us. I kept quiet as I was scared of heights. "Whoever wants to do climbing move right in a line", she said pointing right. "Whoever wants to do canoeing move left in a single line", she said this time pointing left.

"What about ziplining Miss?", I asked her. "Ziplining is for the older kids Sam", she told me. "Awwww" I moved left Emma had decided to go climbing and Lucy had said that she would go with me. We moved left in a single line as instructed and soon we came to a large pool. There was a storeroom containing all our canoes and a group of people were getting them out. "Woah", said Lucy staring at the pool. She was right. It was humongous! "Hi there!", a girl said coming out of the storeroom "I'm your guide today. We don't want any accidents so be careful when you row", she warned us. She helped us into our canoes and explained what we needed to do. "Great job everyone!", she told us. Just as I started to get the hang of it, Ms Jenny arrived. "Time to go everyone" "But we just arrived!", Lucy complained. "No we didn't, we arrived two hours ago",Ms Jenny told her. "Alright", Lucy grumbled. Back on the bus, I was starting to feel sleepy from all the excitement. Maybe I will take a little nap...
