It took her complete 3 hours to get ready for the most awaited event of her life. It was for the first time when she was dressed so ideally. Her hair was curled in a great manner, every single corner of her face was highlighted with so many branded cosmetics to emphasize her beauty properly and since the morning she has practiced at least 100 times for how to serve a tea in one of her mother’s favourite silk saree with proper etiquettes.

In her locked room she was sitting on her study chair and was busy in scrolling the news feed to somehow pass the time and waiting for the door to get knocked. In her 15 centimeters’ brain, millions of questions with billions of answers were fighting with each other to proof their superiority. She was confused and at that time she was not even in the position to trust the coin’s toss too for any decision.

From the beginning, she knew that no one could take better decisions for her than her father do. From her nursery admission to her respectable lecturer’s job, it was her father who guided her accurately on every single stage of her life and today she was not even believing itself that a guy who is BTech from IIT and MBA from IIM has come her home with his parents for a marriage proposal to her. She was excited and was imagining her future.

Everything was already fixed from her photographs and bio-data and hence the wedding was almost arranged. As per customs, dowry amounts were also decided and the only formality which was left was a complete family meet. While she was busy in her thoughts, her door gets knocked and as per the advice, she followed her mother. Finally, her rehearsals got successful and she did everything so perfectly. As per the filmy drama, the would be couple were instructed to talk privately once and that meeting also went fabulous as they both found each other genuine and agreed to spend their life with each other.

It was one of the happiest moment for both the families. Even bride’s diabetic dad didn’t think at least once before having sweets. Groom’s family went home and the typical bride came in her comfort zone again. She was happy to see her parents happy but still there was something which was bothering her. She lay on her bed, closed her eyes, thought for a while and then finally pick up her mobile, search for the recently saved number of his would-be husband, typed a message, and pressed send. After few minutes of delivering the message, her phone ranged. They argued the entire night and next morning her mother wished her Good Morning with the message of her rejection.

The message which she had sent last night was – “I would not be able to change my surname after marriage. I want an identity of my own and not as the wife of an IITian.
