Are You Virgin?

There was an ambience of happiness all around. A beautiful bride was getting ready for her farewell. She was encircled with her friends, some were busy putting her henna on and some were putting bangles on.

 

A girl who used to play wedding games with her dolls in childhood, was getting ready for her own wedding. It was finally happening and she could not stitch words to express her happiness.

 

It was a joyful environment but suddenly, her mood got swing. Her best friend hugged her and said, "Today is a big day of your life, don't spoil your mood thinking about the past". She calmed her down. She was just thinking about her 'would be husband' and all of a sudden, the phone bang, it was his call and she lost in the conversation.

 

Her father went to the market to buy the dowry items and her mother was busy in welcoming guests.

 

When the sun besides, all the relatives reached resort to attend the wedding ceremony. Everyone got busy in the preparations. The in-laws finally reached and they welcomed the groom grandly, after all the rituals and traditional ceremonies of wedding, it was time to take leave. She cried a lot while hugging her parents and her lil brother but she had to separate.

 

She walked in the house after completing some rituals. Her husband was waiting for her, inside. She smiled while looking at him. He stepped towards the cupboard to take a white bed sheet. She asked him, "Why this white bed sheet?" He got shy and couldn't answer it. When she forced him to answer, he replied..

"THIS IS JUST TO CHECK YOUR VIRGINITY."

She was shocked and hurled at him, "NO, I'M NOT A VIRGIN". He slapped her so hard that her cheeks started bleeding.

 

In the noisy ambience, her in-laws rushed into the room to see what went wrong. When he revealed her secret, her in-laws said, "SUCH A CHARACTERLESS GIRL YOU ARE, YOU COULDN'T EVEN KEEP YOURSELF PURE TILL MARRIAGE, YOU CANNOT STAY WITH US, LEAVE THE HOUSE RIGHT NOW".

 

Everything broke down in the moment. Dreams, desires, thoughts, expectations and she left asking to herself that, 

'Why does purity only mean virginity of women?'
