At the midnight of the surrendering spring, he kneeled down in front of her as he professed to her. They grasped onto each other, leaving not even a thin beam of air to pass midst them. Amidst the thousands of white lights, a beautiful bouquet of hundred red roses in his hands that pointed towards her. Young. Tender. A pure serendipity.

The graceful full moon night, when Shayri and Armaan met for the first time. He

tramped towards her in a very sophisticated manner, took his handkerchief out and placed it beside her on the wooden bench. She saw him through the gaps of the fingers as she covered her tears that cascaded down her red puffy face. She was touched. This small act of empathy ignited strong feelings within her. The moonlight rang within her ears. The sweet rain droplets danced down kissing and blessing

them.

Days and months slipped by. Shayri and Armaan shared secret glances between one another.

On Armaan’s 25th birthday Shayri decided to acknowledge her affection towards him. She went to Roshni and enquired, “Where is your brother?”

“At a jewelry store,” she replied ecstatically, “to buy a diamond ring.”

“What? But why?” shouted Shayri.

Roshni giggled and told, “Of course to propose.”

Shayri was heartbroken. Her heart ached.

Tears dripped out of here yes subconsciously. Shayri could hear those words locomoting around her, traumatizing her senses. She walked lifelessly on the abandoned road.

Their second encounter was when she started her first day as a part-time tutor in the Arora Nivas. Her student was none other than Armaan’s sister. Whilst she taught Roshni, Armaan came into the room. He questioned Roshni, “Who is she?” He had no expression on his face

as Shayri stood there glaring at him. He was in his black suit again.

Roshni exclaimed, “My new tutor! Isn’t she beautiful?”

He nodded and left the room. A little smile was on the edge of his red lips while he

left. Roshni stared at him as he merged into his luxurious white house’s master bedroom.

When Armaan became acquainted about what had happened, he ran to find her. He went where they first met. Shayri was on the same bench crying her heart out.

He ran like a national sprinter and embraced her. He sighed and stated, “Thank god you are alright. I have something salient to confess. I…love you.”

She whispered, “He loves me…”

He proclaimed, “Yes Shayri, I love you, you taught me how to be happy and how to

love. I genuinely care for you and will do everything I can to make you happy. Let’s give each other a chance.”

“Yes… of course yes,” she added.

The vow of being a lifelong comrade in the glances, that they secretly shared and the healing

warmth in the firm clasp of one another’s hand that they were reluctant to let go off as they

strolled under the mesmerizing city lights. Love.
