Birthday Surprise

It was 12:00 a.m. seventh of May. Sneha was playing the piano ardently, she was a fervent piano player since childhood, the music of the Piano was like an escape for her, slipping away from the cavernous ambience. Her fingers were dexterously moving on the piano keys when suddenly she heard a hush she heard footsteps climbing down the steps. Her heart almost skipped a beat. Sneha rushed towards the staircase to find none except “tumultuous silence”. She climbed down the steps found a card and a rose. A fit of terror ran down her spine, with trembling fingers, she picked up the card written on it, ”Happy Birthday sweetheart I am always there with you”.

Suddenly she woke up nonplussed, to find herself in her bed. She groped for her mobile and the screen popped up, 12:00 a.m. seventh of May. Until last year Ishaan used to flabbergast and stupefy her on seventh of May, 12:00 a.m. with “zealous birthday surprises”, almost taking away her breath. “Surprises” were a part of his making love with her. On twentieth of September, seven months prior to her birthday their love was devoured, mauled by the gruesome fate. ‘Birthday surprises went down to the somber grave’. Drops of tears glistened in her eyes; she wanted to forget the utterly horrendous and harrowing dream of hers.

She got up from her bed and started playing the piano passionately, to control the pirouettes of her heart. Utter grief made her soul “thirsty”; she went down the steps to search for a bottle of water for quenching her thirst. As soon as she reached the last step, she found a rose and a card, scribbled on it “Happy Birthday sweetheart I am always there with you".
