Chasing Happiness

An old lady lived in a village. She was one of the most unfortunate people in the world. The whole village was tired of her; she was always gloomy, constantly complained and was always in a bad mood.

The longer she lived, the more bile she was becoming and the more poisonous were her words. The villagers avoided her, because her misfortune became contagious. It was even unnatural and insulting to be happy next to her.

She created a feeling of unhappiness in others.

Then one day, when she turned 80 years old, an incredible thing happened. Everyone started hearing a rumour:

“The old lady is happy today, she doesn’t complain about anything, smiles, and even her face has brightened up.”

The whole village gathered together and asked the old lady:

Villagers: What happened to you?

Old Lady: Nothing special. For eighty years I’ve been chasing happiness, and it was useless. Now I have decided to live without chasing happiness and just enjoy my life. That’s why I’m happy now.

Moral of the story:

Don’t chase happiness. Enjoy your life every day and happiness will become a part of you.
