Dear Diary,

The third day wasn’t that bad. The reality is, in fact, it was way better than the first two. I must confess that I may have sounded little worried or demotivated for the past two days and that may have reflected in my writing as well. But today I am feeling a lot better and quite positive.

Don’t you worry. I am not going to bore you with my usual stuff. I know I did that in my last two writs. I literally told you how I started from the point A and reached the point B or Z. Well, I am going to spare you today because I have got a few interesting things to share with you.

You know lockdown isn’t just meant to stop me from going to work but also those who come for work at my home. Yes, you guessed it right, our beloved maids. Their absence has caused a great deal of trouble for our ladies, our homemakers. The services of whom they heavily depend, and on which they have gotten so used to, are not available at all. So, the pressure is soaring like the numbers of infected in the country each day. And who better than me, as man, can understand. As men, we are the front liners who are bearing the brunt of such pressure and heat being in the proximity.

Believe you me, we men are of no use. We think this lockdown is just like a holiday from work and our mindset makes us behave like the king. We do that instead of understanding the difficulty of our partners. We aggravate the persisting inconvenience. We literally put forth our demands and wants as if we are entitled to that treatment. But on the brighter side, this isn’t a primitive and ancient world. Men just can’t stomp their feat and do whatever they want to do without facing any repercussions. I hope you agree with me on that.

Having said that my wife and I have come into a conclusion where we will share things between us. So that the burden is not on one person only, but it is equally divided. Hence, I will be entitled to handle cleaning department of my house. I will take care of sweeping and mopping. Though, my wife has been very considerate that I just need to sweep during weekdays because I am working from home as well. The discount

that I will be entitled for. However, on weekends I shall cover both.

The first instance of this division was put into effect immediately from today. So, somehow, I performed the task given in my kitty i.e. sweeping the whole house. Honestly, I started with the great discomfort and swore on the ongoing pandemic coronavirus too, but later I thought it is a good way to exercise. Tomorrow it is going to get more difficult. Being a weekend, I am supposed to look at both sweeping as well as mopping. I think its fair where my wife takes care of the rest. I respect that.

I didn’t just stop there. I took it at another level. I also volunteered to take care of one meal from today. Where can I brush up my cooking skills than at my house? All great things begin at home, isn’t it? Today I successfully made the Spanish cheese omelet for our dinner. My wife and my son devoured it as soon as it was served. I took it little slower, enjoying my bites in between few sips of my drink.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention this. I stepped out to buy some veggies in the afternoon. We have almost running out of it and I couldn’t stop myself when I saw a vegetable vendor pulling over his van on the road opposite to my building. I was the first one to get there. I maintained the distance of roughly 2 meters and paid online. I must appreciate the vendor who dealt with us one at a time and he also requested other people who started pouring in later after me, to stand in the queue at least a couple of meters from each other. I must say a very rare sight in India. I guess this should be our normal practice than just for the sake of this outbreak.

Overall, it was a better day. I am looking forward to see you again tomorrow. BYE BYE.
