Enjoying the simple things in life

The world was busy as ever and Madhavi was making tea and was very cautious not to spill even a drop of tea on the stove but then someone knocked the door and her pet dog Jhimmi barked a few times. 

She had no option but to leave the stove in moderate flame and run towards the door without having a second thought who the person could be nor about the tea's fate. 

Surprisingly, it was her next door neighbour waiting eagerly and keenly to invite her to her daughters engagement celebrations. She looked rather traditional with a colourful traditional handloom silk saree with flowers in her hair and as usual with all the ornaments she could wear, to look her best. 

Madhavi was happy to see her. She thought, it was a great idea to let her in and offer her the tea and few snacks. Initially she was hesitant and then she looked at her and felt comfortable.

They both spoke about the weather and the and their daily home chores as Jhimmi gazed kindly at her. 

Just then a cat entered after a long waiting and jumped over the the milk near the stove.There was a huge sound but before it could drink it spotted Madhavi angrily looking at it. How swift a cat could be Madhavi thought smiling. 

She gave me the Wedding Card which she brought along with her, she opened her precious vanity bag and got hold of a small white kumkum box with studded stones which looked attractive. 

Then, she looked at Madhavi to apply the kumkum on my forehead. She managed to quickly apply it over hers. She nodded and requested Madhavi to visit her home much before the engagement time and how she would be very happy and excited to receive me on that day to her sweet home. 

As she left the home Madhavi could not stop thinking about the beautiful and colourful saree she wore and how unexpectedly she could share the delicious tea and snacks with her at her home during tea time. 

Apparently significant and simple everyday events give us joy, feeling of belongingness to this beautiful world. 

As Madhavi entered the her home from the balcony her pet set down relaxing and stretching himself over the cool marble floor, as if waiting for another guest.

Taking time to enjoy simple things in life is an art by itself.
