Epiphany

She approached the unfamiliar door and nervously took the key from her pocket. She took a deep breath, unlocked the door, paused, then opened it. To her horror, she saw herself in the room. A wavering white image glowing in the black room. Her ghost walked towards her. It was like her, the flowing black hair, dimples without a smile and emerald narrow eyes. Suddenly it disappeared and was right next to her the next second. She tried to scream but no voice came out. Her ghost looked horribly different. Blood dripped down from its neck. The face had caught a shade of purple with squinted eyes. The girl’s heart now pounding out of her chest, seemed minutes away from stopping forever. Shaking from head to toe, she faced herself. 

Death and life had met. 

The ghost held her hands. They felt surprisingly warm. It spoke, the voice far low pitched than her own. The girl let her stiffed muscles loosen as it spoke softly and gently. “Yes, this is the room where you die. I am your final image. This is how you will look when it is to end. In the end, you decide to take your own life. Breaking nature’s rules. But we are the same. I too broke nature’s rules and here I am to say something to you. You still have time. Your life is more than this. Don’t end it here. You are capable of something you wouldn’t even imagine right now. Face it bravely. You have made it here, which is something not everyone can. Be the boss and show them. What I am facing is much more horrible than what you are. I am stuck between life and death. I can't die because of the immense energy I have within me. The energy to live more. The energy to achieve life. You have two choices, either you take your life in this room as you intended or take mine.” 

Eyes filled with tears, guilt and realization, the girl turned towards the door and walked towards the familiar door.

Life killed death.
