Once upon a time in a village called Ghotakpur, there lived two sisters. One named Niya and the other named Tiya. They both were very happy in their own lives. They were motherless but had a father, Roopchand, who was a very loving and honest man. Apart from studies he had taught them tree climbing, playing football, hockey and many other games.

One day the two sisters went to call one of their friends. They went and called,” Maria, come let’s play football”. Maria told,” No, my mother has told me to do kitchen work" and she refused. Then the two sisters went to another friend and called,” Meenu, come let’s go and play hockey”. Meenu told,” No, my mother has asked me to knit a sweater”, and she also refused.

Then the two sisters were passing through the forest as their house was situated near the forest. They saw the village boys were running and playing. They thought,” Why the village boys can run and play and the village girls can’t?” After some time they reached home and their father too reached. Their father did the household work, made food and gave it to them. Then after some time the head of the village, the Sarpanch knocked at the door. The father opened the door. The Sarpanch complained, “I am hearing that your daughters are forcing the village girls to play”. The father didn’t want to argue so he just left it.

A few days later a panchayat was called in the village. The Sarpanch announced that there will be a sports event amongst the villages and his son will represent Ghotakpur village.

On the day of the sports event, the two sisters didn’t have a place to sit and see the event. Their father had to go for some work. He had an idea and told the girls to climb on the tree and watch the event. They climbed and watched. Then they saw something strange. The two girls saw that the Sarpanch’s son was missing and they saw somebody was catching hold of the boy and running away. The girls followed the stranger. They saw that the stranger had tied up the boy. The girls returned and told the whole story to the Sarpanch. Then they told the host to hold on the event and they all started to run. After a while the Sarpanch and the host were tired but the two girls ran very fast. They ran and rescued the boy.

The Sarpanch looking at the courage and the speed at which they ran and decided that Niya will run in place of his son. He was not surprised to see her win the medal for the village and make everyone proud.

From that day onwards all the girls were allowed to play and not kept only for household work.
