Family

For me my father had died years before his death. It seems weird but it's the truth. I never had the privilege of father's protection or love, never. He had a decent job, good salary but gave nobody any happiness. He never made personal efforts to connect with us. We remained under the dark shadow of his terror. Aways were sorrowful, nothing less.

Why mom dotted on him was beyond any sensible logic. She tried her best to keep the things rolling. He was a sworn drunkard. He had two faces: one for his job, another after the evening.

He was in a government job. I clearly remember, how dreadful the evenings were for us, the kids! He returned from the work, mere sound of the opening of main gate gave us cold shivers! We, I and my younger brother would hide in our bedroom unlike other children who run to hug and welcome their father. We hardly knew the meaning of joy, only for once when he was out of town and was not to turnup in the evening, we felt very happy.

Mother ran coaching from home and was busy throughout the day. She ran the household with her earnings. Father did not spend a penny. He spent only on himself.

He returned from work 6:30 in the evening. Mother readied the tea. He would change clothes and go out only to return after11::00 dead drunk.

One evening he didn't get up to go out. He complained of serious abdomen pain. Mom took him immediately to the hospital. The doctors informed that he had liver cirrhosis. For months his treatment was carried out, but he could not pull on beyond few months and passed away.

Since he was in government job mom got a job, but at very low position and salary. Mom faced many hardships that she lost count of them. She saw that we; both brothers studied well. t is her faith and hard work that we both are now living very successful life. Today under mom's care and love we have found the real meaning of family.
