Marriage

To define marriage one can say that marriage is the state of being united as spouses in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law.

Once a man came to a wise man to seek his advice on how to live a happy and peaceful married life. The man was very miserable not because he had walked miles in that hot and sultry whether in search of this renowned Wiseman but because he was sufferings a lot at his wife's hands. She was a hot-tempered woman who would get offended anytime without provocation.

The wise man as expected did not say or ask anything. He asked his wife tolight a lantern and bring it to him. The wife did as was asked to do. The man thought why this Wiseman asked for a lit lantern in this broad day light!After sometime the wisemanasked his wife to bring some sweetmeat for the visitor. The wife came with some salty snacks instead of sweetmeats. She kept it infront of the visitor and went in.

The Wiseman lookedat the visitor and asked, "Did you get an answer to your problem or not?"

The man could not understand and simply said, "O Wiseman without your guiding me , how would I get answer to my problem?"

The wise man said, "When I asked my wife to brin a lighted lantern, she could have doubted my wisdom and asked why a lighted lantern was required in broad day light but she didn't. She thought there might be some reason and she without raising any question she did what I asked her to do 

And then when I asked her to serve some sweetmeat, she served salty snacks. Thinking that there were no sweetmeat in the kitchen shemight have served whatever was there , I did not raise her a question.

So gentle man, it is very important to have mutul understanding between husband and wife. Both should understand and respect feelings of each other and avoid unnecessary arguments.

Marriage is a life-long commitment. You should grow in selflessness. It is a spiritual and emotional union.  

Where a husband is wrong the wife should help in mending the wrongs and where a wife does something wrong the husband should correct it. This is the only 'mantra'in happy marriage.

In every marriage if both partners focus on giving 60% and taking just 40%, the relationship has an overwhelming chance of being successful. They say this as the golden rule of a successful married life. The relationship starts to deteriorate when couple begins finding flaws and faults in each other, when there is lack of compromise and understanding. When both constantly Interrupt each other.
