Folk Stories

In our childhood we had heard so many folk stories by our elders. A famous story which I had heard many times was the story of monkey and the crocodile. A humorous story.........There was a monkey who lives on a blueberry tree. The tree was on the bank of a river in which there lives a crocodile. The monkey used to give berries to the crocodile as they were very good friends. The crocodile thought if these berries are so sweet then the monkey's heart must be more sweet. The crocodile told this to his wife. His wife then requested him to invite the monkey for the lunch at their house so that they can eat his heart. The foolish crocodile agreed with his wife and did the same. He requested monkey to sit on his back so that he can take him to his house. But in the mid-way, a feeling of friendship came to his mind and he told the truth that he and his wife wants to eat his heart. The monkey then very cunningly, told the crocodile that he does not carry his heart along with him. If the crocodile had informed him earlier then he must and carried with him. The monkey was able to pursue the crocodile to take him back to the tree so that he can take his heart. When they reached the tree, the monkey jumped on the tree and started laughing that crocodile does not even know whether heart is a part of body or not and also broke their cute friendship for this betrayal.

The moral of the story is true friendship is a blessing. If you are blessed with it, see yourself as lucky and never betrays it whatever be the circumstances. And secondly, use your mind and heart in every situation. Don't be foolish like that crocodile other you will always lose your goal.
