Do you remember me? Yes, I am Gajraj, the circus elephant whose life took a dramatic turn when I found sanctuary in a rescue center. Settling into the elephant rescue center in Agra, I found solace in companionship and healing, longing for the day when I would return to the wild. As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, I settled into my new life at the elephant rescue center in Agra. Despite the trauma of my past experiences, I found solace in the companionship of Ravi and the caring humans who looked after us.

Under the watchful eyes of the center's staff, my fractured leg gradually healed. I underwent regular check-ups and treatments to ensure my well-being. The foot bathing pool became a place of rejuvenation for me, soothing my joints and providing relief from the pain I had endured for so long. As I regained my strength, I participated in rehabilitation exercises tailored to my needs. The compassionate trainers and veterinarians worked tirelessly to help me rebuild my physical health and confidence. Slowly but surely, I began to trust humans again, understanding that not all of them meant harm.

The elephant rescue center was more than just a sanctuary for us; it was a place of healing and transformation. Here, we were not objects of exploitation but beings worthy of respect and care. I reveled in the newfound freedom to roam spacious enclosures, surrounded by lush greenery and fresh air. Despite my contentment, my heart longed for something more – the freedom of the wild. I listened intently to stories of other elephants being reintroduced to their natural habitat, yearning for the day when I too would roam the forests of my ancestors. Months turned into years, and I grew stronger and more resilient with each passing day. My bond with Ravi, the elephant deepened, our friendship a source of strength and companionship in our shared journey of recovery.

Then, one fateful day, I received news that filled my heart with hope – I was deemed ready for release into the wild. Excitement surged through me as I prepared for this momentous transition. The staff at the rescue center provided me with essential survival skills, teaching me how to forage for food, navigate the terrain, and interact with other wild elephants.

As the day of my release drew near, I stood at the threshold of a new chapter in my life. Now after 23 years, at the age of 30, I would be roaming in the lush green forests. With gratitude for the love and care I had received, I stepped forward into the unknown, guided by the enduring spirit of resilience and the unwavering belief in the possibility of a brighter future. And so, I ventured forth, my footsteps echoing the rhythm of freedom as I embarked on a journey back to the wild where I truly belong. To my surprise, it was not only me who was released into the wild. Ravi and four other elephants were also relased with me at the same forest and at the same time. Now I knew, I would not be alone. Although small, I had again got a family which I had lost in my childhood.
