Gratitude

Standing on the top floor of my office building amidst the noises around me I felt a rare peace and achievement. Today is the 25th anniversary of our Company. Being a professional for more than 6 years and working in the same company today I was nominated as the department head and best performer of the year. May be after experiencing a series of calamities in life some times even a smallest achievement will fill our heart with immense happiness. Today's happiness made me reminisce all the things which I have experienced years ago.

It is unimaginable to think about the consequences when a happy family is broken apart by losing a person. That is the biggest calamity I have experienced in my childhood. Every moment in our life brings realization. People often say that when we lost money or fame or attitude everything is lost. But my experience made me realize that money and fame can be earned attitude can be changed but our lost beloved ones will never return. I remember how my mom consoled me and stood by my side. Yes it gave me a hope that I have a home even though I only have a single person who wholeheartedly supported me. I was very grateful in my heart. For the first time I felt gratitude towards god. No one is an orphan by birth it is people around us who abandon us and make us an orphan. Sometimes happiness lies in not achieving what we dreamed of but also in achieving what our beloved ones dreamed about us.

When I was immersed in my thoughts I heard an announcement "The best performer of the year goes to Ms. Siddhi" bringing me back. Our achievement may be small but when you have people to rejoice for your success wholeheartedly then that is the biggest thing which makes us prosperous. When I saw my family who were happily clapping while I was receiving my award I felt immense gratitude for what I had in my life. May be some times feeling grateful for what we have is the best way to express our emotions and way to achieve our long term goal. . .
