“Help! Someone help me!” She cried as she tried to free herself from the grip of the person who was holding her. She had a cloth over her eyes, so she was not able to see who abducted her.

27-year-old Gargi Mehta cried out loud as men dragged her into a van. She had been returning home from college late in the evening.

Luckily, an old lady was just peeping out of the window to see what was happening down below on the street. She had severe joint pain, so she knew she couldn’t come down in time to save the girl. So, she immediately called the police.

The police arrived at the scene a few minutes later. They started questioning the lady and she told the police all that happened. A unit of a few constables ran to the police headquarters to find out information about any CCTV cameras in the unit. They got to know that the person next door had cameras installed in their house.

Firstly, Gargi Mehta’s parents were informed and brought to the police station for interrogation. They told her that their daughter had been pursuing a PhD in aeronautical engineering. They had called her many times before to know that she was doing fine because she usually came back home by 3 in the afternoon, but it was 6 in the evening and she was still not back. She told them that she had been doing some research work at the library and was just returning home.

The next day, they issued a warrant so that they could enter the neighbour’s house and gain access to the CCTV cameras. They sent all the feed to the station to be examined and gone through. After a few hours, they found the footage of the abduction.

The police cross-referenced this information with the information given by the lady and Gargi’s parents, and it proved to be correct. The road on which Gargi was abducted was on the same path as her institute. The footage was sent to the tech department to be cleared out and to find out the number plate of the van in which she was abducted.

At 1 in the afternoon, the chief inspector of the case got a call from the tech department. They had sent the cleared-out footage to her, along with the license plate of the van. After seeing the information, she ordered the woman from the tech department to track down the location of this van immediately. After 10 minutes, she sent the inspector the GPS location of the van. It was an abandoned warehouse.

She immediately called a unit to search the house and find the kidnappers. The unit raided the warehouse and found three men threatening to kill Gargi by putting a knife close to her neck. One officer came forward to negotiate with them and free Gargi. The kidnappers then kept down the knife, and Gargi was freed.

She was sent to the police station where her parents were anxiously waiting for her. As soon as they saw their daughter, their happiness knew no bounds.

Gargi was also very happy that she was rescued, but she was also disturbed by this accident. She was remembering how helpless and vulnerable she felt when she was held captive. She was very upset by the feeling and did not want it to happen again.

After returning home, she promised herself that she would work towards how to defend herself and never feel such vulnerable again.
