Lost And Found

Chaos prevailed over the place. The Duchess of Yorkshire had lost her beloved diamond ring. Every maid and servant was looking for the ring all over the mansion. The morning had passed and still, there was no sign of the diamond ring. The duchess lay on her bed, sad and devastated, crying as she had lost the family heirloom.

It all started in the morning when the Duchess took the ring off her finger and went to bathe. She had kept the ring on the bed along with her clothes but on returning the ring was nowhere to be found. She screamed for her lady-in-waiting and asked about the ring but the answer was not what she was expecting. Afraid that the Duke would find out about the loss of the precious ring when he returned from his business trip that night, she ordered everyone present in the house to search every corner for the ring. This was how the chaos had started.

Having had no success since the morning, the Duchess decided to take the matter into her own hands in order to prevent the Duke from lashing out at her in the evening. She personally checked each pocket and purse of every maid and servant but without any luck. She made sure that her most trusted workers carefully checked all the rooms, cupboards, floors, boxes, and belongings of the people who lived there. Alas, the hard work resulted in nothing and the Duchess started giving up hope to find the ring before the arrival of her husband.

Soon, the sunset down. The diamond ring, however, was yet not discovered. All the workers were exhausted as they had been running around the mansion, searching for the ring since the morning. All hope was lost and the Duchess was waiting for the Duke to arrive so that she could tell him about her irresponsible act which resulted in the loss of an irreplaceable, million-dollar sparkling jewel. An hour or two had passed before he arrived, all the while the Duchess was grieving over the lost diamond and reminiscing the joy she had experienced the first time she had worn it. She remembered with how much care and responsibility it was handed over to her by the mother in law.

On returning home, the Duke first went to freshen up and when he met his wife, he embraced her. As soon as she was about to tell him about the tragedy that had occurred, the Duke pointed out that there was something in her dress pocket that was poking him. When she reached inside it, the Duchess found the ring. She screamed with joy and tears started glistening in her eyes. She then told her husband about the day’s affairs and laughed at her herself for not even thinking to check her own pocket even once and having numerous panic attacks. After all, she had the family heirloom with her all along.
