“I found some files.” said Anthony, entering the room. “They’re about Katherine Black. Who is she?”

“Well, it’s a bit complicated”, responded Daniel, pouring himself a drink.

“Did you say Katherine Black?” confirmed Carol, snapping her head up from her book.

“Did you know them?” asked Anthony.

“No.” said Daniel, with a tremor on his face, “It can’t be.”

“Well, I met her on vacation to England. She was a journalist; I had never seen such beauty before. We became friends, but we knew we were in love from the moment we saw each other. But, Katherine, she never admitted it, not until I almost died, that is." narrated Carol. “But then I had to leave. The last I heard of her was that there was a break-in at hers.”

“That’s also mentioned in the file, Carol.” said Anthony. “But for some odd reason, it was never solved-”

“She didn’t let anyone investigate it.”

“Wha- How do you know?”

“Katherine Black. Was a 24-year journalist living in London.” Daniel started narrating without answering the question. No one dared interrupt him. “She promised she would never fall in love. Well, until she met a woman you claim is you, Carol. You left. Nobody knew about you except me. Until there was a break-in, she told the police everything was okay. She didn’t want them to investigate because of you! If the police found out she kissed a girl, she would’ve gone to jail.

But then something happened.

As a journalist, she did many dangerous things but none as dangerous as this. She was informed there was a spy in the military. So, she went undercover. After months of misery, she finally found him. But there was a problem; he knew she knew. So, he did what a person would do keep their secret safe. Blackmail. If people found out, he was a spy. They would also find out that she was in love with a girl. But, to Katherine, work was always first. She told everyone. But then again, everyone knew about her. She was taken to court. But then the worst of the worst happened.

"You never respond anymore." Daniel said, entering the room.

"I would if I could," replied Katherine. "Apparently, I’ve lost privileges to send talk to anyone unless it's in person."

Katherine tried to pick up a glass of water, which she dropped, shattering it. "Damn it"

That was when Daniel noticed something "Your hands- they’re twitching."

"No, they’re not."

"Katherine."

"It’s the medication."

"I’m sorry, what?"

"The judge gave me a choice. Prison or hormonal therapy."

"Oh my god. Oh my god." Daniel looked horrified. "This is what we’re going to do. We’re getting a lawyer and a doctor."

"No."

"You’re not thinking this through. This could kill-"

"I'm fine."

"Let me help you."

"I don't need your help."

-She was given pills, or should I say, "medication". It killed her. Her love for you killed her."

"God." was the only thing Carol could say.

"How do you know?" asked Anthony.

"Katherine Black. She was my sister."

Daniel's voice was awfully quiet throughout the story, but then he shouted, “She made the world a better place! What did the world ever do for her? It killed her. You, Carol Danvers, took away the only family I had.” Then his voice started cracking. "If only she had never fallen in love."

He could still hear her voice, "Love is a dagger."
