Mistaken Silence

Spash! The hot tea ran down her once beautiful face. Her guests gawked but did nothing about it. After all, it was couple's fight and they must not interfere. It was not their business.

"Don't let him do that to you," they'd tell her when he was not around.

"It a man's job to beat stubborn women," he would remind her often.

So, as the tea ran down her once beautiful face she bent over to pick up the broken pieces and made up her mind.

The next morning she sat in the sun sipping her daily cup to tea. She read the newspaper headline out loud in delight.

"MAN ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER," it said.
