My Changed Retained Focus

My Changed Retained Focus

Hey folks!

Hope y'all been well and fit in this scenario. For me this lockdown was a game-changer. I had a choice either to be at the hospital in Kolhapur continuing my internship or get back to Belgaum and focus on doing something else till the lockdown rules were relaxed. I took my leap of faith and decided to get back to Belgaum instead of keeping my parents and my loved ones back in Dubai worried. Yeah, many of them were really worried, but the moment they knew I'm in my house, they felt relaxed. I started off learning online from OpenWHO which has real great content for me to revise being a medical student, vis-a-vis the Marrow prepping from its free content to get a fair idea for PG prepping, then went on to participate in the Edward Jenner leadership programme by NHS UK, the results for which I'm still awaiting. I still attend webinars from various strata affected by the pandemic and try to get my CME/CPDs if available. This also boosts my morale and expands my vision. WFH was apparently a cakewalk for me as I previously volunteered with the Belgaum branch of Ramakrishna Mission from 2014-17, where most of the time I had to do document sharing by WFH. So this pandemic has been very suitably comforting as far as WFH is concerned.

Apart from studies, I watched a lot of food and moto vlogs, got to see many places back home whilst armchair travelling. Also I got to attend a virtual Ramadan Majlis with my acquaintances, so I never missed Dubai. Also I explored trying out cooking dishes from many cuisines like the Udupi cuisine, the Thathai Bhatia cuisine and the local Karnataka fare. These cuisines go way beyond time and are primarily vegetarian sáns onion-garlic.

I did connect to my family via social media. Also I had to change my daily routine. But one thing that has never changed for me is rising early, which helps me in being positive and happy throughout. I've been keeping fit with only two things : Stairclimbing and Garba. This really refreshes me from within. Timezones for various webinars do affect my sleep cycle, but I try really hard to get my 8 hours of deep sound sleep

I never stopped reading, and I prefer nonfiction and mythology. I enjoy reading stories behind many festivals, it gives a change from the monotony of MBBS books that I read. Also the stories / kathas are so positive that atleast once a week I happen to read up something or the other.

All I can tell you is that keep a positive attitude, do not waste time. A new normal will always require a new set of attitudes. But being a good human being is more important.

Love,
