"That dark moonless night, I suddenly woke up. No reason. It hadn't happened before. But that night was different. The air was cold and upset, the shadows were darker. I just glanced around, when one of the blackest shadows moved, and took the shape of a hooded figure. For the first time in my entire worthless life I felt something. Uncertainty. Confusion. FEAR."

It was just a shadow. A void, which seemed to stare at me with non existent eyes. Just stare from the far end of the window, and then disappear. That night, I screamed. For the first time. Ever."

She paused. A little warmth returned momentarily, only to became cold again.

"It came every night since then. And inched closer. I do not sleep now. But somehow I keep walking up. I find its silhouette, bigger and darker everytime. Yesterday, it finally got me."

"A black cloaked hand grabbed me by my neck and pulled me closer to a fetid face. I felt the energy drain from my already paralyzed and lifeless body. Then I saw those eyes. Those red, glowing eyes that burned through my core.

I had lost. So I stopped screaming. I let myself be taken away."

By this time, I was frozen. I couldn't think straight. I wanted to get away but my legs were stone. Before I could open my parched mouth, her icy voice whispered again.

"You know all now. So tell me, what did you get? Hmm? Do you still think that you can help me, doc?"

With this, she turned around to face me.

And then I saw those eyes. Those red, glowing eyes that burned through my core. My voice choked my atrophied throat as she came closer, her glacial laughter deafening me. A black mist surrounded me before I felt my body hit the ground.

I wake up to see people in white coats with terrified masked faces. No. No. This isn't happening again. It has been going for a week. Now they are gonna tie me up again and ask me to go to sleep. They are gonna tell me my beautiful daughter Miriam isn't here. I have told them countless times I saw her sleeping the night she turned 12. I still have my black hoodie from that night. I remember her hand knitted woolen jumper and faded blue jeans. She looked so peaceful. They do not believe me.

This time, I won't sleep. But that won't help. I've tried. I still keep waking up.
