Sincerity

Jasmine is an intelligent girl. She is good in studies and holds good marks in the class. Mostly, she used to secure highest marks in the class, that's why teachers had eye on her in terms of a meritious student. Geeta is also considered as a good student, holds good marks and a good position among her classmates. The remarkable difference between Jasmine and Geeta is, Jasmine has a good memory power that's why she is a last minute prepared girl whereas Geeta is a slow learner and therefore prepares herself well in advance.

One day, the class teacher announced that, the half-yearly examinations are going to held within a month, so, you all need to start your preparation for that. All the parents of the students were also informed about the examination notice.

After a week, Jasmine's mother noticed that Jasmine is not studying for the examination. When she asked her about that, Jasmine told that, 'I always secure highest marks in the class that to during my last minute preparation. This time also, I will start my preparation one week before the examination and I know that I will complete everything within that time period.' When her mother tried to make her understand that this is not the right way of studying, Jasmine was not at all listening to her. On the other hand, Geeta was sincerely preparing for her examination. Everyday, she was fulfilling her goals and practicing the chapters multiple times.

Last week before the examination has came. Now Jasmine was in a hurry to finish lot of subjects whereas Geeta was calmly revising the subjects. Jasmine was feeling restless everyday regarding completion of all the subjects. The examination held and was over within a week. Everyday, after the examination, Jasmine was not looking satisfied with her answer sheet and was telling her mother that she could have done better.

After a month, the class teacher declared the results of the half- yearly examination. Geeta has secured the highest marks in the class whereas Jasmine has secured 70% marks. The class teacher was also very dissatisfied with Jasmine's performance. Jasmine was very sad with her results and went to Geeta to ask her, ' how did she prepare for the examination?' Geeta tod her about the daily practices and sincere commitment to the examination. Jasmine also told her schedule of preparation to Geeta. After listening to Jasmine, Geeta said that 'sincerity is the key to success.' Again Geeta added, 'It is not about the position that I have secured today in the class, but it is about the result that I have given to me and I am very happy that I got the results according to my sincerity and hard work.'

'Last minute preparation may work for a while or may be for securing good marks only for some time but in that way, you will not gain knowledge. In last minute preparation, as fast you will learn, you will forget that fast also.' 'You need to be very sincere Jasmine, Geeta told to Jasmine holding her hands.' The class teacher was listening their conversation from the door side and entered the classroom praising Geeta for her kind words and also motivated Jasmine to do hard work with sincerity. Jasmine could understood herself and her wrong way of studying. She also overcame from her over confidence attitude regarding last minute preparation for examinations. She promised herself as well as to Geeta and her class teacher that she will be sincere now onwards and would work hard each day for her development. 

 Moral of the story- 'Work hard with sincerity, not with seriousness.'
