Title: Slipping Away

"You can bring my racket after the college near the photocopy center", typed Ram, a teenager having spent two years in a law college, reluctantly, because he wanted to study biology. "Alright.", replied Nishita, his classmate.

"When did you buy this racket?"

"A couple of months ago." said Ram trying to control his stammer.

"Do you play tennis?" asked Nishita. "No I don't but I love the game and thought that I would start playing it." By this time Ram started feeling nervous, his palms shivering, cold with the sweat, he began to stammer.

"Even I have a racket but nobody comes to play regularly." Nishita smiled looking at the nervous expression on Ram's face.

Ram felt a strong urge to say,"Can we play tennis every evening from tomorrow?" But he could not utter a single word. His throat felt chocked with nervousness. He smiled back.

They both looked at each other for a moment and said nothing.

"Alright then see you tomorrow." Nishita waved him goodbye and left. Ram wanted to stop her, to talk to her, to go out to some place and spend some time having fun. But he couldn't.

On his way back home he felt sad for himself and prayed to God to help him.

He wasn't looking for love. He was looking for friendship...
