Someday Soon

Anna searched for the blade in her bag, she got it from the front zip. She took the blade and made a small scratch on the tree bark, this is not abnormal, she daily comes to the same park and sits below the tree and waits for him. Recently, she started making a carving on the tree bark, it was a free park with no security guards so there was no one to judge her. She recalled her past as she was marking on it...

"I can't leave you and go to Australia," said Mike.

"But it is your dream Mike!" she said.

"But by that time your marriage?" he asked.

"Someday soon, it will happen but I believe you, you will come before it would. Till that time I will manage," said Anna smiling.

"I can't leave you and go for this tournament Angel," he said holding her cheek with his hands.

Giving a nose kiss, she leaned keeping her forehead on his and said: "This cricket is your dream, you have dreamt for this letter from 5 years."

"I know that," he said, "But I can't leave you, your father is really stubborn, he may make up your marriage..."

"I promise you, I won't marry anyone other than you," said Anna keeping her hand in his hand.

"Go now! Your flight will take off in 1 hour," she said forcing him with his luggage.

"But where will we meet?" he asked.

"Someday soon in your favorite park, I will be waiting for you," said Anna smiling as a teardrop escaped from her eye.

"I'm leaving," he said gently taking his luggage and walking towards the door.

"Mike..." Anna called.

Mike expected her to say to stay, he turned back slowly...she came running towards him and wrapped her hand around him tightly indicating how much she misses him, tears dwelled in his eyes, he left the luggage, wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead gently and said: "I promise you, I will never leave you from my heart."

Anna released her hug lock with him and let him go, he said: "Bye Anna, will see you again in the park."

Anna nodded her head as tears rolled down on her cheek, she sobbed and sobbed. After a few days, she called Mike many times but there was no answer...however after a few months, her father fixed up marriage to Anna by force. Before the day of her marriage, she got a call from Mike.

"Angel! Our dream came true! I'm selected for a cricket match tomorrow, we are going to have the tournament! I should practice, I will call you later!" said Mike in enthusiasm. She felt her bad news shouldn't turn out to Mile coming to her, and losing the tournament match.

"Say me all the best!" he said.

"A-All the best," she hardly uttered the word... he ended the call thanking her... after that she cried for an innumerable time near her best friend.

Her carving ended, as her story did...A teardrop escaped from her eye after she finished it. She stared at the carving she had done.

It was heart in which A M= L.

That meant Anna Mike=Love.

They both were childhood best friends, who developed feelings for each other as love.



It's been 1 year she is waiting for Mike, every time when he asked for marriage she used to say SOMEDAY SOON, she felt it was her mistake. She must have married him when he asked her...but she postponed it. She knows he will never come because now he is one of the topmost cricket men in Australia, but she only believed that he will come SOMEDAY SOON.

"Angel," she heard a voice calling behind her. She turned back with teary eyes and got stunned to see whom she was looking at.

"Mike?" she asked looking at him.

"Angel," he said as tears dwelled in his eyes.

"You?" she asked.

"It's me...only, I'm sorry," he said.

"No, I'm sorry." She went closer to him.

"Why didn't you tell me your father fixed your marriage?" asked Mike.

"Because the next day, was a big day for you!" said Anna.

"Angel? Do you think that cricket is more important than you?" He asked narrowing his eyebrows.

Anna bent down not knowing how to answer his question.

"I didn't know about your marriage until your best friend Adrienne said to me," said Mile.

"What?" asked Anna.

"Yes! She called during the night of your marriage and informed me about your marriage. I tried to come but my officer didn't allow me to," said Mile pausing. "However I succeeded in coming but found that you escaped from the marriage," he said.

"Yes, I did because I can't marry anybody than you!" said Anna.

"Then I searched for you but didn't find you anywhere, then Adrienna forced me to go to Australia again, but I agreed to her on one condition that she should inform me when she finds you again," said Mike.

"I have been waiting for years for you, just before 3 days Adrienne called me and said that she saw you in this park waiting for me," said Mike

"That is when I came here in search of you," he said smiling.

"I'm sorry Mike," she said tightly hugging him as happy tears rolled on her cheek.

"But this time there is no SOMEDAY SOON for our marriage," he said hugging her back.

They both laughed as they cried...
