Starting Over

"Steady, almost there," I say, my tongue sticking out in focus as I line up the last piece of dominos.

"Hey Blondie, how u doin'?" My best friend Sam slams the door open, which jerks the domino structure to collapse.

"Ugh, Sam, c'mon! That was supposed to be my largest project yet!" I sighed, frustrated. "Don't you know to knock?"

"Oops, heh, sorry. Anyway, you can do it again, right?" He keeps a questionable, nervous look.

"Why, you little," I spring at him, pulling his hair so hard he could cry.

"Oh, how many times have I told you to leave my hair?! It's the main reason for me being handsome!" He whines like a baby.

"Great! Now you have no reason to be handsome! Thank you!" I say, still pulling his hair.

The door pushes open slightly more. "Guys, guys, don't kill each other," my mom tries to avoid us receiving a criminal sentence.

"Ugh, tell him first!" I point my fingers and realize what I just started... Sam is king when it comes to pointing fingers.

"So that's how it should go, eh?" He smiles smugly, cracking his knuckles.

"Sam, stop. I know how well you are at this. I don't want WWIII to happen," my mom is thinking just like her job... a CBI agent.

"He couldn't come in quietly and he destroyed my domino structure I worked for days to complete!" I sigh sadly. "Now I have to start all over..."

"Hey, what have I told you about starting over?" She says with an assuring smile.

"That starting over is always a good start," I say, reminiscing.

"And?"

"It might lead to something new," I smile, hugging her and clearing up the dominos to start a new structure.

My mom smiles back and pats my head, turning toward the door.

"A little help could also fix, you know?" Sam says, leaping in to clear the mess as I roll my eyes.

My mom leaves the room as I start designing another project.

It's never too late to Start Over.
