It was almost 6 p.m. I hurried along; my mind preoccupied with the evening's tasks. Suddenly, I felt a sharp tug on my saree pallu. Startled, I turned to find a group of rowdy boys leering at me with malicious intent in their eyes.

My heart raced as I tried to break free from their grasp, but their laughter echoed in my ears as they surrounded me, their taunts cutting through the evening air like knives. My cheeks burned with shame as I felt their hands groping me, violating my dignity with each passing moment.

"Stop it!" I cried out, my voice trembling with fear and indignation. But my pleas fell on deaf ears as they continued their assault, relishing in my distress.

Finally breaking free from their grip, I stumbled backward, my breaths coming in ragged gasps. Tears stung my eyes as I frantically looked around for help, but the bustling street had turned into a deserted alley, devoid of any savior.

Shaken to my core, I made my way home, my steps heavy with despair. Bursting through the door, I expected comfort and solace from the one person who should have been my pillar of strength – my husband. But to my dismay, his reaction was not what I had hoped for.

"What were you doing out so late?" he snapped, his tone accusatory. "You should have been more careful."

His words pierced through me like a dagger, leaving me feeling even more vulnerable and alone. I pleaded with him to understand, to support me in my moment of need, but he remained unmoved, his indifference a bitter pill to swallow.

One day became another, and then a week, while the pain of my inner hurt is unalievable. The recalling of that terrifying experience regulated my days and nights, which disturbed me pretty much. Eventually, I turned to be a person who is totally different from what I used to be. And amidst my anguish, my husband dropped a bombshell – he wanted a divorce.

His betrayal cut me deeper than any knife ever could. How could he abandon me when I needed him the most? With each passing day, the rift between us widened, until it felt like an impassable chasm, swallowing any remnants of love or trust that had once existed between us.

But just when I thought I had hit rock bottom, a glimmer of hope emerged in the form of my sister-in-law. Unlike her brother, she stood by my side, offering a listening ear and a comforting embrace when I needed it most. This unshakable support became to me the only way of being through this hardship, as a lighthouse illuminates the darkest, foggiest seas.

Together, we managed to traverse the obstacle-ridden scenario of divorce proceedings, her backbone lending me courage as we made our way through each obstacle. But none of them could have halted our progress, as all resolve and perseverance were inside of us, and no matter what, we were going to win.

But even as the legal battle drew to a close, the scars left behind by my ordeal remained etched upon my soul, a constant reminder of the pain and suffering I had endured. And as I stood on the precipice of a new beginning, I couldn't help but wonder – would I ever truly be free from the traumas of my past?
