The Gift

One morning, Saadab, a boy of VIIth Standard was walking past the town Masjid when he observed there was little or no trees around the area where five years ago, there were many green trees purifying the region with fresh air. But now, it has become a concrete structure of multistoreyed buildings, as if there is a rat race of chasing blindfolded modernism through cement, bricks and sand.

He paused and wondered what he could do to save the nature and environment. All of a sudden, he called up Ganpat, Charles, Norbu, Chetan, Sukumar, Chameli and Rehana. They all sat down at the local football ground and chalked out a plan.

Next, Sunday morning, the team assembled outside the Town Committee Office and started to conduct a street play, titled "NAGAR BACHAO : PAUDHEY LAGAO!" And to their utter surprise, there was a big round of applaud by the audience, mostly the passers by. Within no time, the local press and media arrived on the spot and there began a Live Coverage of their thought provoking street play that created a great follow-up and many other people joined their team and it was a wonderful dream-come-true situation!

To add to their happiness, the Chairman of the Town Committee, too donated a cheque of ₹ 1 lac for the plantation drive. Some NGOs also came up with their helping hand; the well-to-do families in the town also came forward to contribute with their maximum ability.

Within a week, there was a unanimous decision to make Saadab, the Brand Ambassador of the newly formed Green Town Campaign. All his friends were very delighted to hear that! Everyone came to his house and wished him good luck. Indeed, Sadaab was hopeful that in the days to come, their town will also be named as the prestigious contributor of an integrated effort to restore and revive the nature and environment, in turn making this world a healthier place to live in.

For sensitizing the students, Sadaab and his team of volunteers started visiting the town as well as village schools to conduct an Awareness Camp each to mobilize this noble movement of saving the Earth through nurturing a sapling each in their school as well as their home so as to keep a record of their progress and development. In this way, Sadaab and his team effort bore fruit of ultimate success.

In fact, the people began to rethink over their utter negligence and self-centered thoughts regarding their inclination towards materialism and vanity fair of the so-called social status and wealth. Rather, most of them realized their mistake and decided not to repeat it like a puppet. As per their good thought process, they all spread over the neighbouring regions and mobilized their positivism and action.

And within a year, there was a big follow-up of their fruitful campaign and even the Government also negotiated with the representatives of the Team and formulated a plan of action to make their campaign a magnificent one to let the whole world say, "Yes, we are equally responsible for what we want to dream and whether that dream will see the light of a new day on the horizon of social achievement!"

And, thus, Saadab and his jubilant team of volunteers marched on towards a new dream for the Mother Earth.
