The Lady Of The Moon

The Lady Of The Moon

Long long ago there lived a lady of the moon.

One fine day she decided to visit Earth, she ascended down from the fluffy tuffs of air and for the first time witnessed the residents of this peculiar globe.

She thought of them wonderous.

That night she witnessed something she hadn't as the moon; the starry sky. So filled with the twinkling balls of light that it made her feel something she hadn't felt in eons.

Sadness, doubt, jealousy.

She wondered if the creatures of this world liked the stars better than her dull self that only bloomed completely once in a while. After all they shone with a light of their own while she shone thanks to the Sun far far away.

She was about to return to her place when she heard a voice, 'Why do you look so sad?'

Upon turning her head, she witnessed a miniature version of the residents of this peculiar globe.

'Do I? I was just wondering how beautiful the stars are. They shine so brightly' she decided to indulge this little thing as she waved her slender hand at the night sky.

'They do, but the most beautiful of them is the Moon' said the little resident as it played with its hair, smiling toothly at the Lady of the Moon.

The Lady of the Moon was taken aback by the statement, 'Why so?' she asked.

'The moon doesn't always appear and when it does, it doesn't give a light of its own' stated the Lady of the Moon.

The little resident scratched its head as if trying to figure something out. 'But that's not why I like the Moon' it said at last.

Curious the lady questioned 'Then why do you like the Moon?'

'It doesn't matter if the light is borrowed, it still shines the brightest in the night sky. The stars may be pretty, but the moon makes them prettier. It is its mere existence that makes me fall in love with it' the little resident smiles proudly as it answers the lady.

A smile slowly starts to form on her face as she looks at the little resident. Her

Sadness, doubt, and jealousy fading in the distance.

'Thank you' she says to the little resident as she makes her way back to the moon.

This time around she decides to shine brighter in the little amount of time that she gets, silently shedding her borrowed light on the peculiar planet.
