The Little Sparrow

The Little Sparrow

A sparrow flew in through the pigeon net covering the balcony. It hopped around, sweetly chirping, stopping to peck at the food bowl. No food!

Then it flew away nearby to try its luck.

Yes, nearby. I know it, because it returned shortly. This time it also had a sip of water from the clay bowl mounted on the blue stool.

It knows well that the food bowl is empty; but because it can see that I am watching, it would once again peck at the empty food bowl. Now two times.

Could I ignore such gestures? The demand which is made with such confidence!

What makes this creature so confident? It has no means to procure food, if I don't put it there.

.....And I know there are no fields nearby.
