One hailed from a family of gold diggers, the other struggled to survive among the garbage haulers. Gyan created colors in dens and mines while absorbing shades of grey himself. There, Garv got to touch the purple robes in which the characters of his books arrayed. Sometimes they played together. Little balls made of Garv's rich white papers stuffed with Gyan's mean colours.

But for one day...

A mix and match of myriad pains and losses. A defected Shoe and an amputated leg is all it took.

Garv embarrassed to even stand, much less walk with a broken shoe on. Gyan writhing in pain , wailed over the lost limb.

Garv hesitated to go out and meet his friend. Gyan kept wondering, how would he?

Garv, finally, lost his shoe to his pride.

Gyan, days later, scavenged it out of a huge scrap pile along the roadside without much knowledge.

And sure they say, "One man's dirt is another man's dream" .
