Untold Relationship

Ronak Sharma is a young guy from Delhi who has come to Mumbai and is working in a media company. He is living in a 2bhk rented flat in a newly constructed building. Just 2 flats away from him is a girl from Nagpur. Sheha Patwardhan, who after completing BE is doing her MBA.

 

Except for Ronak and Sneha there’s no one else living there, since it’s a newly constructed building and the flat owners have bought the flat to rent them out. Hence all the flats are empty. And to top it the building does not even have an NOC. Both of them stay here due to lesser rent and also since there is a police station nearby. 

 

Ronak is busy with his job, home to office an office to home. He loves partying and every other night he’s and on weekends he parties with friends and often brings girls to stay at his place. He does’nt know how to cook and hence generally orders his food online. He loves playing guitar and often strums when he feels like it. 

Here Sneha is looking for a roommate to reduce her burden of room rent. She does not like restaurant food and prefers to eat what she cooks herself. 

 

Occasionally Ronak and Sneha bump into each other in the building. Living on the same floor soon they exchange hi-hellos and soon after a small period, they start having general casual conversations as they become familiar to each other. Sneha knows that Ronak is an easy going guy. 

 

And then one day because of the Corona Pandemic, the lockdown is enforced throught the country. Everything comes to a stand still. Now Sneha cannot go to college and Ronak can’t go to his office. 

 

Sneha and Ronak are somehow spending the time in their own apartments. Ronak clicks selfies and keeps posting them on social sites while Sneha spends her time studying, cooking, eating, and chatting with her parents and friends. 

Ronak is all prepared for the lockdown. He has stuffed the refrigerator with ready made food stuff and beers. Now he chills and calls his girlfriends or catches up with friends. And when our beloved PM is going to address the nation about the lockdown he sits in front of the TV. He eagerly waiting for the lockdown to open and he can move freely. Everyday he goes and sits inside his car for sometime and plays loud music. Seeing this watchman laughs. 

Gradually friendship develops between Ronak and Sneha, cell numbers are exchanged.Freely Ronak and Sneha meet in the buildings gallery, passage maintaining the social distance, spending a few minutes together, however when Ronak invites her to come to his flat she refuses because Sneha is aware the Ronak has gotten girls to his room quite often. Besides Ronak being lazy, he not been cleaning his flat and it’s become quite messy. Theres stuff lying all over, clothes, bottles, wrappers, unwashed plates etc scattered all over the house.  

 

Now instead of reducing, there is an increase in Covid 19 cases leading to further extention of the lockdown. Curfew is imposed in Mumbai. Both Ronak and Sneha are now fed up of being alone leading to frustration. Ronak is going nuts talking about Corona with all his friends. He is scared of Corona. He starts cursing politicians. He tells his parents how bad the situation is in mumbai and how it’s heading for a disaster and as a result they get worried and tensed. Sneha too has become nervous and irritated but her family pacifies her giving encouragement and support. Sneha starts taking extra precautions. 

 

A few days later, in their area, a family is found Corona positive and hence the entire zone is put under as a containment zone, and as a result there is total restriction against anyone even stepping out of the house. Due the the enxtended lockdown, Ronaks supplies slowly get consumed and soon his stock of beer and food is exhasuted. To make it worse, due to strict containment zone guidelines, there is no more home deliveries in their area. 

 

On this side, Sneha too runs out of her stock of groceries. Both Ronak and Sneha have now become helpless in the lockdown. All the shops in their area have been shut and they are not able to source any supplies of food or groceries. Their savings too are slowly run out. They are clueless as to how to handle this situation. 

 

To make it even worse the Weather department sends out a cyclone threat in the city. The city is in high alert. Due to the impact of the cyclone the transformer in their area breaks down and due to failure of electric supply the entire area is now under darkness. Since their area is a containment zone, the electric departments are not able to send the technician to repair the transformer. As a result they have to stay in their house in total darkness. They are not able to charge their cellphones, nor laptops, nor any other electric appiances. So now they talk to each other by writing notes on paper. 

The darkness, silence and the prolonged loss of human connection has rattled sneha. She now is afraid to stay alone in the dark. Ronak asks her to trust him and convinces her to temporarily shift in his apartment. Ronak gives her the spare bedroom and makes her feel secure. Sneha though uncomfortable and hesitant has no option but to trust him. She brings her basic stuff from her apartment. Sneha and Ronak are slowly adjusting to living with each other. The absence of light and cellphones and in a closed space they are adjusting to living with each other. Ronak, being such a lazy untidy guy, his flat is in a mess while Sneha is used to living in a clean and tidy apartment. Finally on Snehas urging they both get down to tidying and cleaning the house. The divide daily house chores amids themselves and live like two good understanding friends. Gradually both of them are comfortable living with each other. She asks ronak to help her in cooking and begins to teach him how to cook. Due to Snehas arrival there is a major change in Ronaks lifestyle. 

 

After some time, whatever groceries that were balance soon runs out and they have nothing to eat. 

So finally decides to sneak out and go into the neighboring area. However he is spotted and the cops whack him and chase him back to his building. 

 

Ronak approaches the security guard and explains his problems. Security guard helps him. The Security guard had received a few ration kits from various NGO’s. He gives one of it to Ronak. 

 

Since Sneha had’nt eaten a good meal in past few days and along with the tension etc. has taken a toll on her health and she falls sick. Ronak wants to take her to a doctor, but the security guard asks him not to do so telling him that at the hospital they might suspect Sneha as a corona infected and confine her to a 14 day quarantine which will only make the problems further worse. Ronak is convinced and decides not to take her to hospital but instead to look after Sneha himself. Within a few days, Sneha begins to recover. On the other hand Government announces unlock

1. The Areas transformer is repaired and the electric supply is restored. His area is declared safe and is out of the containment zone. People are now allowed to travel in flight and trains without any premission or clearance. Ronak asks his family for some money and books an online flight ticket for himself and Sneha. And when they are ready suddenly another lockdown is announced as there is a major increase in new reported corona cases, due to public negligence of not maintaining social distancing. And there is another lockdown.
